DAA Parent/Guardian Code of Conduct:
We as the DAA and parents/guardians of Demarest children recognize the importance of carrying ourselves as good role models for our children, whether we serve formatively as coaches, on the board, as parents/guardians, on or off the field.
To this end, we provide here the DAA Parent Code of Conduct, which is agreed to whenever a child is registered for a sport via the DAA. It is again provided for your reference.
-
I pledge to provide positive support and encouragement for my child participating in DAA sports by following this Parent/Guardian Code of Conduct:
-
I will encourage good sportsmanship by demonstrating positive support for all players, coaches, game officials and administrators at all times.
-
I will inform the coach of any physical disability or ailment that may affect the safety of my child or the safety of others.
-
I will remember that kids play to have fun and that the game is for youth, not adults.
-
I will focus on fun, participation, and individual skill development rather that winning or losing.
Code of Conduct
-
I will teach my child to play by the rules and to resolve conflicts peacefully.
-
I will demand that my child treat other players, coaches, officials and spectators with dignity and respect in language, attitude, behavior and mannerisms, regardless of race, creed, sex, or ability.
-
I will teach my child that doing one’s best is more important than winning.
-
I will never ridicule or yell at my child or others for a mistake or losing.
-
I will respect the officials and their authority. I will not argue with or criticize game officials.
-
I will remember that coaches, Board Members and Commissioners are volunteers. I will respect the coaches for their decisions. I will never question, discuss or confront coaches during a game. If I have an issue, I will speak to the coach off the field in an appropriate manner, when there are no players present.
-
I will demand a tobacco, drug and alcohol free environment at all DAA sports events.
-
I will make every effort to get my child to practice and games on time, pick him/her up on time, and in the event that we will miss a practice or a game we will let the coach know in advance.
-
I/We agree that if I/We fail to abide by the aforementioned rules and guidelines, I/We may be subject to disciplinary action. These actions will be determined by the DAA Sportsmanship Committee or the DAA Board, which reserves the right to select and apply an appropriate penalty based on the situation and circumstances.
-
I have read and agree to the Parent/Guardian Code of Conduct.
-
Registration of my child indicates my willingness to support players, coaches, officials, and administrators in order to encourage a positive and enjoyable experience for all. I understand the consequences if I fail to comply.
